Corona’s ad campaign “Corona Extra” attempts to target football fans through the use of a public figure, humor, and setting.  While this commercial didn’t give the audience extensive insight into their product it did affectedly gain public awareness of the product Corona.

First through use of a public figure-
  • This Commercial aired on many stations that sealed with sports especially television stations that covered NFL related topics.  Tony Romo is a prominent figure in the football world and is considered on elf the best football commentators ton television today.
  • By using a name like Tony Romo people are attracted to the TV wondering what the commercial is about.
  • The audience, especially a Football audience will like the brand Carona more because Tony Romo is in on elf there commercials. The audience might trust the brand more.
  • Cleverness way to introduce Corona prizes
  • The number at the end to win certain sweep stakes and other things.

Humor:
  • Funny interaction between a normal fan calling Tony Romo, who picks up in a fictional place and fictional title as the leader of the Corona hotline.
  • This appeals to the audience because Tony Romo isn’t sitting on a beach answering phone calls from stressed individuals worried about their fantasy football teams.
  • This helps people associate humor and the funny phone call with the brand Corona
  • Romo is on a beach in a place that looks sunny and very nice at a desk that says Corona on it with a Corona uniform on.

Setting:
  • Romo is on a beach in a place that looks sunny and very nice at a desk that says Corona on it with a Corona uniform on.
  • Most of the actors in the commercial have glass bottles of Corona and the clear glass bottle reveals a light liquid that looks very summary.
  • Corona did a nice job with the setting of the Corona Hotline beingon a beach in a place that looks very sunny. The audience will associate the summer day and warm feelings of the beach with the product Corona.
  • The ocean behind Romo as well as the sandy beach and lawn chairs makes the place Romo is very Nice and peaceful. The ocean looks very blue and clean. The audience could interpret the setting with the product Corona and might want to expiernce drinking a Corona on a beach or on a sunny day somewhere.  At the same time doing the same thing watching football with friends.

The overall mission of of the two settings.  was to attract football fans to drinking a corona no matter where or what time of year. The two condescending locations between the caller on game day with his friends and the beach where Tony Romo is calling from could attract the audience to thinking a Corona can be a good choice with very different settings.

The overall affectedness of this commercial was pretty affective in my eyes. The product of Corona was not specified or talked much further into detail but this commercial gains public awareness to the product Corona. The commercials use of a public figure, humor, and positive condescending settings help ensure popularity in a football based audience.

The commercial I choose to analyze was the ad campaign Corona hotline which is a commercial advertising the company Corona,  which is a company that specializes in  alcoholic beverages. There are numerous commercials attached to the Corona hotline but the one that was most recent was the “Corona Extra” commercial. This commercial is prominently seen on television stations that are directly associated with sports more specifically the National Football League (NFL).  Corona Extra includes a former NFL Quarterback and current lead color commentator for CBS, Tony Romo. Corona utilizes Tony Romo, a prominent character in the footballl world to get the audience interested in the commercial. While This commercial doesn’t give the audience much insight into the product of Corona but what it does do is attract the general audience through using a big public figure like Tony Romo. The setting of the Corona Extra commercial is on a beach in what appears to be paradise. The background is very sunny and looks very warm. By having the setting of the commercial be warm and peaceful helps the audience believe that’s what it’s like drinking a Corona.  Another thing this commercial does is connects with the audience in a humorous way. By having a interaction between Tony Romo and a person that calls in can be communicated to the audience as humorous especially to people that are fans or know who Tony Romo is. By having this interesting lay out of a commercial this could help the audience remember the commercial and in return remember the product of Corona. This commercial was pretty successful in getting the audience to attentively listen to it. While the commercial did not use many details about the product it did a good job off drawing the audience in to the commercial by using a public figure, having a warm setting and using humor.

Similarities:
They both are ways of where to indicate research.

In text citations are in parenthesis

Work cited pages are the same

The most two common citation ways used on college campuses.

Both are used for research purposes.

MLA:
Does not have year of when the research piece was published.

Does not require that much formatting with the citation

The author’s name can be used in the sentence the year does not have to follow the name

Is not usually used for sciences

Generally the same citation for anywhere the research is gathered.

Work cited page is called bibliography instead of references

APA:
Requires the year the book was published

Requires commas in-between author and year and more formatting with the page number.

The year has to follow the name of the author if the authors name in mentioned in the document.

Usually is the citation sciences use

The citation is different depending on where the information is gathered. Journal article citation is different from a books citation

Not called bibliography instead called references
